Just God, Jim and a few thoughts . . .

Just God, Jim and a few thoughts . . . Its been quite a while since I've updated this page, or for that matter the website, and a lot of things have been happening!

First of all, since the spring, St Paul's has been a very busy family, from a wonderful Easter celebration, through our Spring Turkey Noodle Dinner, and the seemingly countless banquets we served, by the time Vacation Bible School was upon us, I think we would have all liked to boarded a plane and actually flown to India, just for the break!   Our theme was "Journey to India" from KidstoKids, and for the second year in a row we focused on missions.   The children and adults enjoyed the opportunity to study, dance and sing; and although our group was small, we had a great time (especially in the AC)

The beginning of July was upon us before we knew it, and the basement of the church was brimming full of baskets and items for the booth at the Alum Bank Car Show.  This is our second year to have a booth at the car show, and we are so thankful to the Alum Bank firemen for allowing us to hold our basket auction there.   Our tent held 69 baskets of all shapes and sizes with everything from kids toys, to Paula Deen cookware; from Penn State items to Steeler items;  blow up pools and much much more!   All proceeds go to pay for Summer Camp, which is rapidly approaching!

This will be our second year for holding camp at Living Waters Camp in Schellsburg!  After many wonderful years on Blue Knob, the decision was made to move to Living Waters, in part because of the uncertainty each year caused by the state budget fights, but more than that because of the facility and all it has to offer.  Click on the Living Waters tab to learn more -- it is such a greatly and wonderfully blessed part of God's creation.   This year our theme is "The Great Adventure" and is a western theme -- because of fundraising and donations, each child can attend camp for a nominal $50 for the entire week!   God is Good!!!

As I sit in the AC and write this column, we have just held the first of at least two church picnics scheduled for this summer.  The first one was held near Pavia at the Burnt House picnic area, beginning with worship and followed by a great picnic!  The next one will be held on the evening of Aug 14th as we dedicate the new pavillion at the church, and there will probably be a third for the whole community before the weather gets too chilly!  Hope to see you there!!

And so we've been busy -- and so has God!   When I look around I have seen his handiwork in so many people, this summer, and in so many ways.  Whether gathered in worship, in celebration, in mourning, or in labor: I have seen God's Holy Spirit be present in more wonderful ways than I can count.    And when I consider my own life, and the ongoing conversation with God, especially in the past few weeks, I can only but say "Our God is Wonderful!"   I recently stumbled upon a group named "Acappella"  and one of their songs has become especially powerful to me  --   "Lead Me to Rest" if you have the chance -- watch it on youtube -- a tremendous song to say the least!

Come join us, hang out with us, share a laugh and make yourself at home.   We're a family, made up of folks trying to do the best we can in this world, who have been made joint heirs with Jesus to a grand inheritance of eternal salvation, and a peace that passes all understanding!  Come!  you are welcome!!!
